How To Get To The Church Of Inhibition In Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a massive game with countless secrets and locations that can be difficult to find.

Unlike other Triple-A games, Elden Ring refuses to hold your hand and help you navigate the game world outside of a simplistic map and a few hints here and there hidden within character dialogue.

This is especially true with quests, where you’ll often be given no direction on how to complete them.

This ends up being a double-edged sword, with much of the fun of the quest being the struggle, but also causing some players to ignore these quests altogether.

One of the most challenging quests in the game revolves around helping a mysterious blind woman in her journey across the Lands Between. 

Hyetta requires you to deliver her several Shabiri Grapes to progress her questline, and one of these is located near the Church of Inhibition.

This is a location that can be difficult to find. If you find yourself scouring the Lands Between in search of it and need pointing in the right direction, you’ve come to the right place! This article will give you an overview of this part of the questline and some additional information about the churches around the map and why they’re important to visit. 

Where Is The Church Of Inhibition?

So let’s get right into answering our initial question. The Church Of Inhibition is a location that you’ll be able to find in Liurnia of The Lakes.

You can access this at any point in the game, but if you haven’t defeated Margit, The Fell Omen, and Godrick The Grafted, you’ll have to find it by sneaking around the edges of Stormveil Castle. 

You will find it in the top northeastern sections of Liurnia. The easiest way to access it is from the north, from a plateau that you’ll be able to reach near the Grand Lift of Dectus.

There is no way to climb up to the plateau without circling around, and if you locate it on a map, you’ll see a distinct line separating the map’s two sections. 

So it may seem simple enough to traverse this slope and get to the church, but there are some extra trials in your way that you may not be able to avoid.

To get to the church of inhibition, you’ll need to get through the Frenzied Flame Village and the Frenzy Flaming. Here lies the problem—both areas can cause players some difficulty if you’re not prepared.

Getting To The Church Of Inhibition 

First up, the slope will take you on a path toward the Frenzy-Flaming Tower. This is a particularly dangerous area, as looking at the tower will start to fill your madness meter.

It’s likely that you haven’t yet encountered the madness mechanic, and if you don’t know when the bar fills, you’re likely to die.

This makes the path up to the church very dangerous, and you’ll have to keep a close eye on your meter to ensure it doesn’t fill up and kill you.

You can avoid the meter by simply hiding behind rocks and anything else you can find. We’d generally suggest that you go and deal with the Tower by climbing to the top and defeating all enemies on the way.

Once the tower is dealt with, you won’t have to worry about your madness randomly spiking. However, if that’s too much trouble for you, simply ride and sneak past, being careful of the enemies in the area. 

Next up is the Frenzied Flame Village, and it’s really easy to go rushing in and end up swamped by enemies.

We won’t spoil any of the lore as to what’s happening in this area, but just know that it’s all to do with the Hyetta questline if you’re working your way through it.

Instead of going into the village, you’ll be able to find a Windstream that will help you up the cliff and on the way to the Church Of Inhibition.

Inside The Church

Inside the Church of Inhibition, you will encounter the enemy Festering FInger Vyke. This is a difficult battle, but one you’ll want to do to have some peace or retrieve the Shabiri Grape for the Hyetta questline.

Once you defeat him, you will find two items. 

The first is Vyke’s War Spear, a weapon that could be good depending on your build, and a Shabiri Grape called the ‘Fingerprint Grape.’ From here, you can enter the church and explore it at length.

Inside, you will find a Finger Maiden Armor Set, which is a good addition to your cosmetic wardrobe, and a Sacred Tear.

Churches And Sacred Tears

You will always find Sacred Tears inside churches across the map. Churches Of Marika, as they are known, are usually ruins with a giant Marika statue in their center.

Under this statue, you’ll be able to find a Sacred Tear. Sacred Tears are an important item in the game, as they allow you to upgrade your flasks and make them restore HP or FP.

If you want your character to become as powerful as they can be, you will want to collect all of the Sacred Tears you can find.

There are a lot of different churches in the game, so you’ll want to take the time to visit them all if you can.
