Unfortunately, it also includes the elements of real life that many of us dislike. For example, your Sims have to pay bills!
But how to pay bills in Sims 4?
The short answer is that you can do it in three different ways: through your computer, through your mailbox, or through your phone. With each of them, the player simply has to interact with the object and select the option to “Pay Bills.”
However, there is plenty more to learn about paying bills in The Sims 4, and we’ve got all the answers in our fun guide below!
How Do You Pay Bills In The Sims 4?
As we’ve touched on in the introduction, there are three different ways that players can pay their Sim’s bills in The Sims 4. These methods involve either your Sim’s mailbox, computer, or cellphone.
It’s useful that there are three different ways to pay bills because it makes it a lot easier and more accessible for your Sims. For example, your Sim might not have a computer in their home, so there must be two other ways to pay their bills.
Whichever your Sim does have, we’ll explain below how you can use each of the three methods. Easy!
How Do You Pay Bills With Your Computer In The Sims 4?
We’ll first look at how your Sim can pay their bills with their computer in The Sims 4. This incredibly simple and quick method will give your Sims more time to spend on more enjoyable activities.
With that being said, your Sim will need access to a computer to pay its bills. If they don’t own one in their home, they can always find a computer at the library.
Simply follow these steps:
- Walk your Sim to the computer.
- Have your Sim sit at the computer.
- Select the computer, which will then display a variety of different options.
- Select the “Pay Bills” option.
And that’s it! Your Sim’s bills will be paid for that week. Watch out, though, because a new bill will arrive a week later.
How Do You Pay Bills With Your Mailbox In The Sims 4?
Alternatively, your Sim can use their home’s mailbox to pay their bills instead. Your Sim can choose from various styles when buying a mailbox, but they will allow you to pay bills.
If your Sim lives in an apartment, they won’t have a typical mailbox. Instead, they’ll have a mail station mounted to the wall, which can be used to pay bills.
Simply follow these steps:
- Walk your Sim to their mailbox or mail station.
- Select the mailbox, which will then display a variety of options.
- Click on the option to “Pay Bills.”
And that’s it! Your weekly bills will be paid.
How Do You Pay Bills With Your Smartphone In The Sims 4?
While previous Sims games allowed you to buy home telephones, there are none in The Sims 4. This is because Sims will automatically receive a smartphone, and you can use that phone to pay your bills.
It’s worth noting that Sims automatically receive a phone when they are a child or older – so no babies will have the phone.
However, babies won’t be paying bills anyway! For that matter, neither will children because only adult Sims can pay bills in The Sims 4.
Simply follow these steps:
- Phones aren’t in your Sim’s inventory, so look at the bottom-left section of your desktop interface. You’ll find the phone icon there. Click on it!
- A variety of options will appear. Click on the one that says “Pay Bills.”
And that’s all it takes!
What Happens If You Don’t Pay Bills In The Sims 4?
We’ve already said your Sim needs to pay their bills each week, but what happens if they don’t pay the bills?
Well, your Sim will have 48 hours to pay their bills once the bill has arrived. If they fail to pay it in that time, the electricity at their house will be cut out.
With no electricity, your Sim won’t be able to use things like lamps, televisions, fridges, and other electrical appliances. If the bill isn’t paid another 48 hours later, your Sim’s water supply will be shut off.
Neither the electricity nor the water supply will be turned back on until the outstanding bill has been paid.
Though this is pretty tough, previous Sims games were even harsher! When bills weren’t paid in those games, a repo man would come to the Sim’s house and repossess items.
Can You Skip Bills In The Sims 4 With Cheats?
If you’re playing on PC, some cheats will help your Sims skip paying their bills.
If you type “household.autopay_bills, ” all your bills will be paid automatically. It’ll still cost money, but you won’t have to do it manually.
On the other hand, typing “household.autopay_bills true” will disable all bills completely, saving you money! To turn them back on and pay bills manually again, type the same command but replace “true” with “false.”
How Did You Pay Bills In Other Sims Games?
In previous Sims games, you could only pay bills via the mailbox.
